LEOs do not compete with fibre

LEO satellites do not compete with fibre.

Starlink has updated its availability map (11 November 2024 screenshot), flagging key commercial hubs in Nigeria as SOLD OUT. A small number of commercial buildings, administrations and individuals/SMEs are served so far.

However LEO satellites have their place in the ecosystem. Kuiper will soon follow, adding capacity to the market. And the ubiquity of the satellite service combined with a reasonable peak bandwidth capacity, make LEO a fantastic, affordable choice for broadband access in peri-urban and rural areas.
